Are you passionate about nature and eager to make a hands-on impact? Our Wet Willow Wildlife Project is on a mission to restore and enhance wet willow habitats across Bolton, Salford, Wigan, Trafford, and the Mersey Gateway. By strategically improving and connecting habitat pockets, we’re creating vital corridors for wet woodland species to thrive across the region.

To kick off this autumns' Wet Willow Wildlife practical conservation work we will begin at Whitehead Hall Meadow in Astley on the 15th and 16th of October. (If you're interested in getting involved but can't make these dates please email Alex at afancett@lancswt.org.uk)

We'll be carrying out practical conservation tasks including scrub removal from the meadow habitat to prevent it from turning into a woodland. We will also be thinning some of smaller trees from woodland edges to allow light restoration within the denser woodland areas helping to allow regrowth of ground flora.

All tools, equipment and training will be provided. All you will need is warm outdoor clothing suitable for the weather, waterproofs, sturdy boots or wellies and a packed lunch to keep you fuelled for the day! If you need to borrow any outdoor gear such as wellies or sturdy walking boots for the day please send a message to Alex Fancett (the group leader) with your size so that she can source them for you.

Please note there are no public toilets on site and parking is limited so you may need to park considerately on residential streets.
