Baking & Kitchen (Mere Sands Wood)
Our Visitor Centre at Mere Sands Wood Nature Reserve opened back in August 2021 and houses a café and retail space along public toilet facilities, staff offices and a volunteer room.
As well as our Catering and Retail operation, the Visitor Centre and Café also provide a base for our busy programme of events, activities and educational visits by schools.
As a Baking and Kitchen Volunteer you will have a fun and engaging opportunity to be the creative director of our cake and biscuit range! We have big ambitions to bake all our cakes and sweet treats in-house and to sell them via our café .
You will have access to our kitchen and with a bit of guidance you will choose what to bake, aiming to keep items themed around the time of the year, alongside baking the traditional favourites!
The income that we generate from selling the sweet treats that you bake helps us to maintain our nature reserve and supports our vital conservation work.
It is important to point out that this isn’t a traditional kitchen role where food is made to order in a high pressure environment. We are a relaxed nature reserve, with a small kitchen, and a nice friendly team on site. We bake on the quieter days ready for the busy weekends!
We are looking for volunteers who are available on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday morning, on a regular weekly basis.
